We understand that to achieve our goal of supporting public health professionals to increase evidence-informed practice, we need more practice informed evidence. Simply put, we need help from public health professionals to understand their priorities, aims and challenges. This will help us to ensure the work we do will help policy makers and practitioners by being relevant and valuable.
To achieve this, we have developed a collaborative environment that supports engagement with our public health professional collaborators. You can get involved in a number of ways:
Public Health Professional events – Our researchers regularly hold events aimed at sharing their researchers with public health professionals. Further information on upcoming events can be found here.
The Public Health Practice Evaluation Scheme (PHPES) – The Public Health Practice Evaluation Scheme (PHPES) provides an opportunity for people working in public health with innovative initiatives to work with us. We can provide support to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the initiative. More information on the PHPES can be found here.
NIHR School for Public Health Advisory Board membership – Our Advisory Board provides independent strategic advice to the School on the development of its activities in the context of national and international strategic opportunities and priorities. Its members include professionals drawn from organisations and professional bodies with responsibility for developing and implementing public health measures, senior academic researchers in public health from outside England, and lay expert members who contribute a public perspective. More information on our Advisory Board can be found here.
Contact the researcher – Our researchers are always pleased to discuss their research with policy makers and public health professionals. Please contact us at sphr@newcastle.ac.uk if you wish to contact one of our researchers.
