We have launched the SPHR Virtual Writing Hub which aims to bring our students together in a supportive space where they can write alongside peers. The hub will enable students from across the School to motivate each other and offer different perspectives to improve their writing.
The hub has been set up as a request from students to create a space where they can be in the presence of others at this isolating time to write. Although there is no expectation to join, just logging in and working within a virtual space together will help our students feel they are part of a supportive community.
What is it?
The Virtual Writing Hub is here to provide weekly inspiration and ensure that as a community we allocate time to writing every week.
When is it?
The room will be open every Friday 9.30am-12.30pm.
Is there a structure to the meeting
There is no expectation to follow an agenda but you can use the following structure which includes three writing blocks split with check-ins if you wish.
9.30 – 9.45 Meeting starts, catch up and set writing goals
9.45 – 10:30 Writing block (microphone off, can continue to use chat)
10:30 -10:45 Quick check-in, problem solving, reflection on goals set
10:45 – 11:30 Writing block (microphone off, can continue to use chat)

11.45 – 12.30 Writing block (microphone off, can continue to use chat)

*Please note if you are the only one in the room and the session has been idle for more than 40 minutes, it will turn off. You will either need to re-enter or ensure it is not idle for more than 40 minutes.
Why use it?
This virtual hub can be used to write articles, abstracts, presentations, blogs, book or PhD chapters, writing up research notes, drawing mind maps, reading background material, sketching graphs and figures, data analysis, etc. We encourage our students to use this space to connect with each other using the chat function and to actively share writing goals for the session and writing successes, as well as to ask for, and share tips and useful resources.
How to access the room?
You can sign up to use the room here.
Can the hub be used at a different time?
Email email@example.com and we can set up a different time or day that suits you best.
