Anne M Johnson (MD FMedSci FRCP FFPH FRCGP), Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the UCL Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care, has been awarded a damehood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for 2013.
Professor Johnson leads the UCL membership of the NIHR School for Public Health Research (SPHR) and is a member of the School’s Executive Group. In addition, she is developing research around the links between alcohol, young people and sexual health, as part of a School-wide programme of research on alcohol.
Commenting on her award, Professor Johnson said: “I am surprised and delighted to receive this award. I have been lucky enough to work with wonderful colleagues and mentors at UCL for over 25 years and this honour should be seen to recognise them all.”
Professor Johnson is Chair of the Grand Challenge for Global Health and Chair of the SLMS Population Health Domain. From 2002 – 2012 she was Head of the Department of Primary Care and Population Sciences and then Director of the Division of Population Health.
