Earlier today, the NIHR School for Public Health Research and the NIHR School for Primary Care held a joint webinar exploring how we can improve diversity in research.

Research participants are often not representative of the diversity you see in society or the community most at risk of being affected by a condition. Improving diversity in research participation is relevant across all research fields and is essential if we are to improve research, and ensure it is fit for purpose.

The 150 individuals who joined the webinar had the opportunity to hear about developments on equality and diversity within NIHR, listen to case studies and take part in a Q&A session.

Speakers

Dr Paula Wray

Dr Paula Wray, a member of the NIHR Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Board, started the session by sharing developments within the NIHR to support diversity and inclusivity within research.

Within her talk, Dr Wray referred to the NIHR INCLUDE project and the INCLUDE framework. Thank you to NIHR Clinical Research Network North East and North Cumbria for permission to share this resource.
