Our researchers have been working alongside our community partners, Chilypep, on a research project looking at health inequalities and young people. Their recent research looked at young peoples understandings and experiences of health inequalities, what makes being healthier easier or harder, and their priorities for change. Their findings highlighted the importance of youth organisations and youth work, both in supporting the health and wellbeing of young people, and as a source of insights into what is needed to tackle health inequalities.
The team is now exploring ideas for potential future research projects and are eager to hear from our voluntary and community sector colleagues in the youth sector (both managers and workers on the ground). The team would like youth workers to to share their expertise and knowledge with them about what’s really important to understand about health inequalities for children and young people, and what some of the key issues and questions are that could be explored further through future research. They have questions like:
- What would your priorities be?
What evidence is needed to help address health inequalities?
The team will be holding three online discussion groups from January to March 2022 (times and dates below) and would appreciate input from people who work in youth organisations (both managers and workers on the ground). Participants only need to attend one meeting to provide input.
