On 6 April 2022, the NIHR announced a name change. To emphasise its enduring commitment to social care research, from that point the NIHR officially become the ‘National Institute for Health and Care Research’.
We are still known as NIHR School for Public Health Research
The acronym ‘NIHR’ will remain unchanged. As the acronym, NIHR, is to remain unchanged, the School for Public Health Research remains the NIHR School of Public Health research. However, when written out in full, the name should be:
National Institute for Health and Care Research School for Public Health Research
This also means that our SPHR logo is unaffected by the change and will not need to be replaced.
Changes do not have to be made retrospectively
Previously published outputs do not have to be amended to reflect this change. However, going forward, we need to ensure that the material we produce is branded correctly and reflects this new name. For unpublished work, please be aware that changes may be required to disclaimers, funding statements etc. before publication.
Updated resources available
We have now updated our templates to support this name change. These can be found on our Communications Resources for Researchers webpage. Please ‘favourite’ this webpage and use the templates available here. The Directorate Team ensure these resources are the latest version.
Please sent outputs to us for oversight and brand checking before publication
Please also ensure you forward on any outputs you create that support your SPHR work to:
