Ageing Well Programme
The four-year programme is developing an integrated public health approach to optimise health in older age groups. It builds on four building blocks: a) risk prediction and stratification, b) synthesis and development of evidence about current practice and equity, c) identification and evaluation of preventive interventions tailored for gains in health and well-being; d) population modelling.
The programme, led and coordinated from Cambridge, consists of six core projects, a cross-cutting cognitive health theme, and over 30 collaborators from all NIHR SPHR member institutions. The combined outputs will strengthen the evidence base to address key areas of concern for government and society:
- How to optimise health and well-being, and reduce inequalities in our ageing societies
- How to tackle increasing health and social care demand at a population level
- How to change policy and practice through better use of research.
